About the Wildlife Photography Excursion

Learn how to photograph wildlife during a wildlife photography excursion to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve.

Course Details

  • Two hour zoom session covering what to expect on the practical game drive, suitable equipment, camera settings, support and time for questions and answers.
  • Three hour game drive with a qualified wildlife photographer on board.
  • Tutorship and hands-on training during the game drive.
  • Nature reserve emphasises endangered species, including Lion, Rhino, Cheetah and various Antelope species.

Presented by

The course is presented by award-winning photographer, Bruna Mentrup-Nortje. Bruna is a professional wildlife photographer, traveller and adventurer. Her philosophy is that anyone can acquire technical skills but the prerequisite for becoming a wildlife photographer is a deep connection with nature.

Who is this course for?

Beginner, Intermediate and advanced photographers who would like to master the fundamental creative and technical aspects of wildlife photography.

Requirements

  • A DSLR or Mirrorless camera with advanced or manual program modes.
  • Beanbag; camera support suitable for shooting from a bird hide.
  • Good understanding of how the Exposure Triangle, Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO work.
  • We recommend a lens with a minimum focal length of 200 mm. Longer lenses will be a bonus. Note that we will not be adding brackets to the game drive vehicles as we will be shooting handheld most of the time.
  • We need a minimum of six photographers to provide this service.
