About the Product Photography Course (Product 101)

This practical hands-on course is ideal for photographers who would like to learn how to shoot products in the studio and on location. We cover the most important aspects of Product Photography, from styling to execution, and bringing the product to life. You will have the opportunity to set up lights, direct, style and shoot a product under supervision of an established pro. After completing this course, you will have the practical knowledge and confidence to shoot on a set on your own.

Course details

  • Small groups with a maximum of 12 people who each gets to work with all the equipment and direct a studio shoot.
  • Day 1: Hands-on presentation, focusing on the set, from getting a brief to styling and preparing the product, to shooting it.
  • Day 2: You get the opportunity to participate and direct a practical shoot, from start to finish. We emphasise typical problems you may encounter on the set, which will enable you to solve them effectively when you are shooting on your own.

Daniel is an established professional and award-winning photographer who specialises in commercial product photography, ranging from jewellery and liquid to e-commerce. With over 15 years’ experience, he has worked on successful shoots for clients such as Jenna Clifford, Grand Time Pieces, Coca-Cola, Canon and SAB.

Requirements

  • A DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with full manual control.
  • Basic to Intermediate understanding of lighting and how to use the camera to change the ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and access to various focus modes.
