The Photo Critic Photo of the Month competition winner for February 2015 is Kobus Eksteen with “Starry Sky”. Kobus shot this in the Richtersveld with a Canon 5D Mark III and Samyang 24 mm f1.4 lens on a tripod. He used a small torch to “paint” the side-lighting on the quiver tree. Exposure time was 20 seconds at ISO-1600. He used a “DSLR Controller” app on his android tablet to obtain focus in the low light.
For his winning image, Kobus receives a discount of R600 for any photography course with DPC.
Registering for a photography course/workshop at DPC entitles you to free membership on our student network, Photo Critic. Members may upload up to two images per week for constructive critiques and join in other photography activities.
It is such a strong composition Cobus and I just love it! – It also makes me feel so proud to be associated with photographers such as yourself! I also signed up to complete my beginners course with DPC many moons ago, not really knowing what to expect! Looking at your stunning work this morning, took me back to my own journey with DPC. Danie Bester has been a very sound influence in helping me personally grow stylistically in my own photography, and as mentor, he has played a role in helping me develop an individualistic style which now gains rapid recognition and proudly displays in prestige lodges in Botswana and Namibia. His influence is visable in all of our work! Keep up the good work Cobus!
Very artistic expression !
