About the Basic Wildlife Photography Course
The course is designed to give you the best possible photographic experience. You will learn about the different elements that come together to make good wildlife photographic compositions. This course is designed to optimise your photographic opportunities and to enable you to put your newly learned skills into practice.
You can expect a small, intimate group of photographers to ensure that you get the ultimate tutorship and guidance from an experienced wildlife photographer. Apart from offering you plenty of opportunities to sharpen your wildlife photography, you also get to enjoy nature and the company of other like-minded individuals.
Course Details
- Small classes with a maximum of 12 people
- The course is divided between 4 Zoom sessions and two practical excursions to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve and Marievale Bird Sanctuary
- Four self-study modules
Presented by
The course is presented by award-winning photographer, Bruna Mentrup-Nortje. Bruna is a professional wildlife photographer, traveller and adventurer. Her philosophy is that anyone can acquire technical skills but the prerequisite for becoming a wildlife photographer is a deep connection with nature.
Course duration
The course consists of 4 sessions and runs over four weeks, plus two face-to-face practical excursions to the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve and Marievale Bird Sanctuary on a weekend.
Cost
R4 900 per person. Couples or friends joining pay only R4 100 per person.

Who is this course for?
This workshop is for all photographers who have a passion for nature and what nature offers. Feel the urge to connect with nature once again and clear their minds.
Requirements
- It is expected that attendees know the basics of photography such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, metering, focusing, etc. If you do not yet understand the basics, we recommend that you take a look at our Basic to Intermediate Photography Course.
- A DSLR or Mirrorless camera with advanced or manual program modes and a sturdy tripod.
- You will need a computer for assignments and to review class materials.
- Optional: Since we will be covering basic workflow for wildlife photography, having attended our Lightroom Course before this course will be extremely helpful.
