The Photo Critic Shot of the Month goes to two photographers, Luke Brouwers with his photo “Trees in the Mist(Nature Category), and Marethe Grobler with her portrait “Old Soul Young Girl(People Category). Both photographers receive a discount of R600 for any photography courses with DPC. Their winning images will be automatically considered for the coveted Photo Critic Shot of the Year competition.

They were not the only winners though since we decided to also include Ken Jennings’ impressionist landscape, “Gansbaai” as a wildcard entry for the Photo Critic Shot of the Year. Congratulations to all three of you!

Registering for a photography course/workshop at DPC entitles you to free membership on our student network, Photo Critic. Members may upload up to two images per week for constructive critiques and join in other photography activities.

About the Author:

Danie Bester
Fine Art, Landscape, Architecture: The more abstract forms of photography like impressionism and minimalism intrigue me. I prefer creating images that depict energy, mood and silence. To illustrate my themes, I use mainly long exposures, selective focus and focus blur. My philosophy is that the camera is just a paintbrush and that thought-provoking images stem from a trained mind.
